It’s not a joke—today is officially Blah, Blah, Blah Day, though it may not be what you think. Blah, Blah, Blah Day is a day to finally get to that long laundry list of stuff you’ve been putting off since who knows when. From repairing a leaky faucet to getting your car taxes paid to grooming your dog, whatever task you’ve been avoiding like the plague can get checked off your list today!
Ironically, it’s also Husband Appreciation Day. I say it’s ironic because of our ongoing to-do items, most are on my husband’s chore list since I work at home and tend to get my own crossed off fairly quickly. What better way is there to appreciate your ol’ man than to make him go mow the yard already (as mine did today)? Seriously, though, it would be nice to spend some quality time with your husband, to let him know he’s appreciated, or maybe even take one of his chores off his schedule for the day and do it on your own if you like.
For those of you who love to get the best deal (or to sell your stuff), it’s also Auctioneers Day. When I was growing up, I spoke so fast that people would make fun of me and joke that I was an auctioneer in training (or the guy from the micromachine commercials). Unfortunately, I do still speak that quickly sometimes—particularly when I’m excited, nervous, angry, and anything but asleep—though my grandmother would always defend me, saying that my brain was simply faster than my mouth. (Grandmothers are great for that sort of thing.) Talk like an auctioneer today, or plan to go to the nearest auction in your area and see what you can find. My husband’s parents always get some excellent deals through auctions, for everything from furniture to car parts.
With all of the downloadable music at our fingertips these days, we hardly ever go visit the record stores anymore—so since it’s Record Store Day, maybe you could make a special trip. Some of my favorite memories stem from the local record stores in our area, as well as the one where I went to college. Sadly, the former two are now out of business, but I’m sure little record store gems still exist across the country. They usually have other cool things like stickers, band clothing, comics, and other stuff, too.
And to wrap it all together... After taking care of the lawn or another chore, order music like an auctioneer at your favorite record store and give it to your husband in appreciation.
